"Barthpenn@heaven.org" is called 'a masterpiece'

Recipient of The Craig's Choice Award for Best Book in February 2005

  •
The first time a juvenile fiction work received the honor
THE STORY: When a 10-year-old named Jordon Mink accidentally receives an email from an angel named Bartholomew Pennington, it causes a breach in heaven. Angel "Bart" and his superiors 'upstairs' attempt to keep the error a secret from God. Bart reluctantly becomes the boy's cyberspace pen pal to calm the threat of Jordon relinquishing the angel's email address to other mortals. Bart makes a second mistake when he becomes emotionally attached to the boy and begins to sneak down to earth to keep tabs on him. When Bart discovers Jordon is suffering from a fatal illness he is convinced it is not Jordon's time to leave earth so he tries to pull a miracle out of heaven to save his young friend. Written to resemble a bound collection of email correspondence, 'BART' is a whimsical look at heaven and explores faith, hope and friendship.

KEVIN'S SECOND TWEENER FABLE RELEASED:

"Kevin Scott Collier does it again in 'Esther's Channel'"

THE STORY: Esther, who is a painted turtle, has lived in a narrow stretch of channel all of her life. The water may be shallow, but the secrets run deep. Esther harbors resentment for her neighbors concerning a tragedy that happened long ago. Kevin's second Tweener Press Fable is a journey into the behavior that divides and unites us as individuals. 17 creatures appear in speaking roles; but it is only Gack, the red-winged blackbird, who has pledged to always be by Esther's side. Esther confronts her past and broken heart by chasing a dark memory that forever changed her life. But, will she take advice from a tiny snail named Doodles, who claims "it is more important where you're headed in life than where you've been." While marketed for 'tweens,' the book is directed at parents of them.
